Hey fam!
Have you found your cozy place, yet?
.
.
.
Let's talk about our "why"...
________________________________________________________________
A lot can change in a matter of days...weeks...months. For me, it's usually the who, what, when, where, and how.
Who can I/should I work with?
What should my focus be?
When can this be released?
Where am I going/am I stuck here?
How is this getting funded?
Sometimes, it feels as if these questions will consume you, especially when your life doesn't look like what you hoped it would be.
But before I get drowned in dreams deferred, God often reminds me of a conversation we had years ago.
Picture this: A passionate singer-songwriter, working on a script for a play turned web series, with ideas for a book. I remember having dreams of talking to people in an audience. Big deal as an aspiring actress, right? I'm like, great God, when is THAT going to happen?
His response, "What if it's just for one?"
Wait-
One, like, a one-night only performance? A one-time speaking engagement?
"One person."
Any creative that is personally funding their art will tell you one person isn't going to make a dent in how much you've spent, time or finances.
So again, I'm like, one-
"One person."
If I do what I do for His glory, one person being blessed by it should be more than enough. As much as my spirit totally co-signs with that, my flesh is like, uh, come again? You have a whole family out here (whole lol, I always get a kick out of that). I can't just spend money to not make a profit. Trying to get some additional streams of income, hello?
Then, He reminds me of Matthew 6: 25-33.
"Don't worry. I'll take care of you."
Sometimes, we just need to be reminded that when we use what God gives us for His glory, He will take care of us. We just have to seek Him first.
So, if me singing only blesses my daughter as I take her school or put her to bed...
If a friend is blessed by something I wrote...
If something I say or a character I portray encourages someone to try again...
That's enough.
That's my why.
Fam, let me know about your why! What are your thoughts?
