I dreamed a dream...

In the quiet room, remnants of a past celebration linger, with paper garlands hanging loosely and a solitary chair positioned under a soft light, evoking a sense of calm melancholy.

Pale streamers floated above the room as I dreamed the party had started.

Ribbons on a chair faced a small table.

Every candle waited for the guest of honor we had imagined.

Guests held cups and spoke in whispers.

No one ever came to the door.

At midnight, a sad lullaby played.

Near the cake, I placed a tiny party hat.

Confetti stayed in the bag because the time for throwing it never came.

Yet the room stayed decorated, in hopes of a different ending.

Later, the banner slowly fell and balloons dropped to the floor one by one.

Open windows let in rain.

Still, I saved the decorated chair, unable to put it away.

Soon, morning came, and sadness set in. Worship, my only solace.
